RHC

Kabul, January 3 (RHC)-- More than 10,000 people died in Afghanistan during the past year, in 2010. According to a report by the Agence France Press, many of those killed in Afghanistan were civilians.
NATO spokesperson Brigadier General Joseph Blotz admitted that the U.S. military surge led to more violence.

He told reporters: "This actually led to an upturn in violence and we expected this, but obviously this is a necessary step."

The NATO spokesperson said that "before it gets better, unfortunately it has to get worse."
