Syria has announced that terrorist groups were behind the killing and wounding of tens of people in the village of al-Treimseh in the east of the country.

Eye witnesses who appeared on Syrian TV said terrorists attacked, destroyed and burned scores of the houses in al-Treimseh, on the outskirts of the city of Hama, on Thursday, killing dozens of civilians, Syrian Arab News Agency reported.
Abo Arif al-Khalid, one of the residents of the village, said that armed terrorist groups attacked the village and opened fire randomly on its inhabitants and houses, killing more than 50 people.
He added that a woman and her child were killed by the terrorists before the eyes of all people.
Damascus said the Western and some Arab media are working with the armed terrorist gangs to sway public opinion against Syria and its people by accusing the government of the killings on the eve of a UN Security Council meeting.
The UN Security Council is set to discuss a resolution on the future of the UN mission in Syria.
The Security Council must hold a vote before the mandate of the UN Supervision Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) runs out next week.
Meanwhile, UN-Arab League special envoy Kofi Annan is scheduled to meet Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Monday to discuss the unrest in Syria.
Syria has been gripped by more than 16 months of unrest.
Damascus blames “outlaws, saboteurs, and armed terrorist groups” for the unrest, asserting that it is being orchestrated from abroad.
