Three children die every day
in Afghanistan

KABUL, January 6. – At least three children die every day in Afghanistan, victims of attacks, bombings, and armed conflicts between the insurgency and the U.S and NATO occupying forces, the Afghanistan Rights Monitor (ARM) reported today.

Ajmal Samadi, general director of that non-governmental organization, informed the press that at least three children lost their lives every day in war- related incidents in 2009, the worst year since October 2001. According to the NGO, more than 1,050 Afgani children were killed during the past year by bombs, anti-personnel mines from previous conflicts, and air strikes by Pentagon or NATO forces, PL reported.

In other news, five people died, among them four police officers, and three other Americans were wounded in a bomb attack on a troop convoy in the eastern Afghan province of Nagarhar, official sources reported.
