NAM Foreign Ministers Reject Foreign Aggression on Syria
Tehran, Aug 29 (Prensa Latina) Foreign Ministers of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) today expressed their categorical rejection to any foreign military intervention in Syria, and said that the solution to the crisis must be through peaceful negotiations.

A draft declaration adopted before concluding the Foreign Minister' meeting sessions of the 16th NAM Summit welcomed the appointment of Algerian Lakhdar Brahimi as the new UN-Arab League special envoy to Syria.

The draft declaration, which will be put to the vote by the Heads of States and Government on Thursday, assessed the peaceful efforts of the previous envoy, Kofi Annan, and wished success to the new representative of the UN and Arab League secretary generals.

The polarization on that delicate topic caused differences between the Syrian representation and another country while the draft declaration was discussed. However, Iranian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast described it as a little disagreement in that sense.

According to Mehmanparast, differences to pass the draft declaration were resolved with the Iranian move and all the countries' delegates at the meeting approved the draft resolution that had been subjected to tense discussions during the meeting of experts and officials.

The Iranian spokesman admitted that the Foreign ministers attending the meeting in Tehran paid special attention to the topic and expressed their opinions to solve the problem without foreign interference and through a Syrian to Syrian solution.

Apart from proposing a dialogue initiative between the government of President Bashar Al-Assad and Syrian opposition, Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi promoted debate to explore ways to a negotiated agreement.

Salehi warned meeting participants that the international community is confident of NAM's proactive role in global events and hopes it contributes to restore peace, security, and real freedom, as well as human rights in the world.

For its part, Egyptian Deputy Foreign Minister Ramzy Ezzedine Ramzy made a speech in the exchange of opinions, emphasizing that the end of foreign interference in the world nations is a prerequisite for a long-lasting world peace.
