Peace & prosperity, not war & austerity: 2014 Convention of the Canadian Peace Alliance
Canadian Peace Alliance
January 17 to 19, 2014 | Ryerson University, Toronto | peace14.com | Facebook

The Canadian Peace Alliance invites you to participate in its 2014 convention: Peace & prosperity, not war & austerity. The 2014 convention aims to bring together peace activists and allies from all across the country to discuss and debate the task of building a stronger movement for peace and justice. As Stephen Harper continues to pour untold billions into wars abroad and militarism at home, we would like to propose some real alternatives to the pro-war agenda.

To that end, the convention will be a chance to re-launch our centre-piece campaign: Peace & prosperity, not war & austerity. Instead of committing $490 billion to military spending over the next 20 years - as the Harper government has done in its Canada First Defence Strategy - we propose to redirect those resources to health care, education, child care, good green jobs, anti-poverty initiatives, and climate justice. Over three days of panel discussions, plenary meetings, and workshops, the convention will discuss how to raise these issues in your community, set up a local campaign, and build support among the wider public.

We hope you can be a part of it!
