Clashes Continue in Libya, NATO Puts off Aggression
Prensa Latina

22 de septiembre de 2011, 10:02Tripoli, Sep 22 (Prensa Latina) Rebel forces launched a new offensive Thursday to try to take two important strongholds of Muammar Gaddafi, encouraged by the NATO decision to put off its attack on Libya for another 90 days.

The opposition gunmen led by the self-proclaimed National Transition Council concentrated their resources, and redoubled their operations against Sirte, Gaddafi's hometown, and Bani Walid.

For what they predict it would be the "final attack" against those localities, the rebels have prepared armored vehicles, tanks, and heavy artillery, with the back-up of NATO planes.

British spokespersons reported air raids against pro-Gaddafi forces in three areas, and the destruction of bases in Sirte and Bani Walid.

Meanwhile, Syria's Ar Rai channel commented that NATO planes and ships attacked a hospital in Sirte, injuring a Ukrainian doctor and patients.

The attempts made in the past two weeks to take those cities failed due to the strong resistance of civilian gunmen and military forces loyal to Gaddafi, who forced rebels to withdraw in all directions.
