Caracas, Jan 05 ABN.- Venezuela's Government counts with solid evidence to confirm the accusation made by President Hugo Chavez upon the use of the island Curacao to carry out military operations, which poses a threat to Venezuela's sovereignty.

The statement was said by the vice president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Ramon Carrizalez, during a ceremony in which the Training Ship Simon Bolivar set sail from the Venezuelan state of Vargas heading to Brazil, in order to take part on South America's Yacht Race from Jan. 31 to Feb. 05.

“On May 17 2009, a warplane belonging to the United States took off from Curacao, infringed our air space and a no-fly zone as it is the Air Base La Orchila. We taped down the talks held between the control tower and the airplane, through which the crew was asked if they had authorization to fly the zone and about the reasons of their incursion. We also have the flight paths and we afford it to prove that Curacao is indeed used to violate Venezuela's sovereignty,” Carrizalez affirmed.

Moreover, he stressed that it is necessary to make the Venezuelan people remember this event, even though the attempts to trivialize it on behalf of the Colombian Government, as well as by Colombia's and Venezuela's media.

Similarly, speaking to the members of the Training Ship Simon Bolivar, vice president Carrizalez expressed that “This is made basically by cadets, and you are the young people who today embark on a journey to represent Venezuela with dignity as messengers of peace.”
